On the morning of 12 April, Mr. Hou Hongwei, Director of the Office of Basic Education of Jinan University, and Ms. Wei Xia, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Liberal Arts, visited ASJ and reached a consensus on the establishment of an internship base for students. Mr. Cheng King Leung, Chief Principal of ASJ, accompanied the visit, and Ms.   Jessica Feng, the Executive Principal, hosted the meeting.

Director Hou Hongwei, Secretary Wei Xia and his entourage first visited the campus and learnt about the school's operating characteristics, educational philosophy and teaching achievements, and spoke highly of the school's philosophy and achievements.

At the symposium, Chief Principal Zheng Jingliang expressed his gratitude to Jinan University and the School of Letters for their continuous support and assistance to the school, and said that the establishment of the internship base was the beginning of the co-operation between the two sides, and he looked forward to a wider and deeper co-operation between the School of Letters and the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong and Macao Students. Then President Feng Yan made a systematic introduction of the school's mission, history, scale of operation and special courses, and welcomed the excellent students of the School of Letters to come to the school for internship and contribute to the education of Hong Kong and Macao children.

魏霞书记介绍了暨南大学文学院的办学历史、办学成果、特色，她表示暨大文学院在中文和历史专业方面成绩显著，很多著名的文学家、史学家是出自文学院，而且随着粤港澳大湾区融合发展，越来越多港澳子弟入读内地大学，目前文学院有近三成的学生来自香港和澳门。文学院早在数年前就设立了港澳师范班，为香港、澳门培养了一批又一批具有家国情怀的港澳籍中小学教师。希望通过与广州暨大港澳子弟学校的合作，能为文学院学生提供高质量的实践锻炼和就业平台，也为港澳子弟学校在学术和师资方面提供支持。Secretary Wei Xia introduced the history, achievements and characteristics of the Faculty of Letters of Jinan University, she said that the Faculty of Letters of Jinan University has made remarkable achievements in Chinese language and history majors, and many famous literary scholars and historians came from the Faculty of Letters, and with the development of integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, more and more Hong Kong and Macao students   are enrolled in mainland universities, and at present, nearly 30% of the students of the Faculty of Letters are from Hong Kong and Macao. The Faculty of Arts set up the Hong Kong and Macao Teacher Training Course several years ago, and has trained a number of primary and secondary school teachers of Hong Kong and Macao nationality with a sense of family and country for Hong Kong and Macao. It is hoped that through the co-operation with the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong and Macao Students (Guangzhou), we can provide students of the Faculty of Arts with a high-quality platform for practical training and employment, as well as support to the School for Hong Kong and Macao Students in terms of academics and teachers.

Director Hou Hongwei said at the conclusion of the meeting that in recent years, in addition to the efforts of upgrading and iterating at the stage of higher education, Jinan University has also done a lot of work on the extension of the stage of basic education, and the founding of the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong and Macao Students is a successful case. It is hoped that the two sides will take this contact as an opportunity to further deepen their co-operation in teaching seminars, academic exchanges and student employment, in addition to the establishment of internship bases.
